Omanawa Falls offers an invigorating adventure for nature lovers seeking a beautiful waterfall experience in New Zealand. Nestled in Omanawa, this point of interest features a well-maintained but steep track, rewarding hikers with stunning panoramic views from the first lookout. While the full trail presents a challenge with many steps and some inaccessible sections, stopping at the power station viewing point provides an excellent vantage of the falls. The free entry and clean surroundings make it a welcoming spot for visitors. Bring a water bottle and snacks to fully enjoy this scenic journey through native bush and refreshing landscapes.

3 months agoThe waterfall is beautiful, but just getting to the second viewing point (a 15-minute hike) is a challenge. The third is even more difficult, and you can't even see the waterfall because there's a closed section; you can only hear the water falling.

4 months agoIt is a beautiful place and only a 10 minute walk to the first and second viewpoints. Both are very nice, with one being on a high platform. This place reminds me a lot of Bridal Veil near Raglan. Unfortunately, after reading many reviews I decided not to complete the 750 steps to the final viewpoint down near the actual falls. They have advised that it is not worth it, but I will do it on my next attempt. The overall experience was great, but if you can’t see the waterfall from the base itself, it can be a little underwhelming. I will be returning to attempt the final viewpoint near the waterfall.

7 months agoStunning car park with ample amount of space. Well maintained track but it is very INTENSE, I do recommend taking a water bottle for the track. There are A LOT of steps and at the end of the full track you not able to see the waterfall very nicely, if you want to see the waterfall properly stop at the power station viewing point. Definitely does take 1 hr and 20 minutes. Bring a snack for afterwards.

9 months agoBig parking area with toilets, rubbish bins, and tables with seating. There are multiple walks, some small and then the 3 main lookout platforms. When you get to the first carving turn left onto the gravel road and follow that to the first lookout platform. You'll pass the turn-off for the other 2 lookouts so when you're done, turn back and carry on on that pathway from here, there are lots of steps majority are uphill to the second lookout where you get a great view. From here, you take the the stairway next to the platform to get to the third platform where it's 750 steps all up. But in my opinion the view isn't worth the walk as you can't see the waterfall only the water at the bottom of it. As it's all uphill on the way back to the second lookout.

a year agoSteep, scenic walk to a stunning waterfall. Walked to the first lookout point and had an amazing view of the falls. The walk is not very long but it is quite steep with great views along the way. Very clean and free entry. Well worth the visit.
