5 years agoGreat walk. Took us about 3 1/2 hours back to the quarry rd carpark with a stop for a bite at the otawa trig and a stop to admire the views at the lower trig (Whareotetarakeho). Make sure you veer off on the right split on the way back down to go back via the lower trig as the views are second to none.

6 years agoThis was a fabulous hike on a beautiful day like today. We organised to leave a vehicle at the bottom by the Otawa Lodge and started the hike from the top carpark on the Quarry Rd. This was definitely the right direction to do this tramp as the last bit was so steep and slippery heading down to the car. With a few stops for geocaches, it took us just under 2 hours to get to the trig and from there down another 2.5 hours to the bottom. Some good views from the lookout just before the trig made for a few pics opportunity.

4 years agoInteresting and varied walk. The best forest is up on the ridge halfway in, so patience is needed. Great views from the first trig.
