Anzac Day 2025: Te Puke Remembers
Today, April 25th, 2025, a quieter, more reflective atmosphere settles over Te Puke. The usual bustle of our orchards and the “Kiwifruit Capital of the World” title steps aside for Anzac Day – a profoundly important day of remembrance across New Zealand and Australia. Here at Troppo.nz, we observe it with deep respect.
As members of the Te Puke community, deeply connected to this Bay of Plenty land, Anzac Day prompts us to pause our daily work. While our usual focus is on nurturing growth and harvest, today we remember a different kind of commitment: the sacrifice made by the Anzacs at Gallipoli and by all service personnel in conflicts and peacekeeping missions since.
Many from our own Te Puke community, neighbours and friends, will gather before dawn, perhaps near the local memorial or RSA, sharing in a collective moment of silence and respect. We think of the generations from this very district, sons and daughters who answered the call, leaving homes and farms to serve in distant lands. Their courage, resilience, and the enduring spirit of mateship are legacies woven into the fabric of communities like ours.
