4 years agoIt was nice track without people. Lots of interesting fauna and flora =) I recommend gum boots in this season. It's pretty hot but the tall grass and weeds would bother you. Not many birds in November but interering cabbage trees, dragon flowers and beautiful scenery. It won't be fun for kids that much though.

4 months agoDon’t opt for the long walk as it isn’t signposted. We got lost and needed to use our gps to find our way back. The track could be very muddy in wet weather but was ok for us. We saw very few native birds, only ducks, pukekos and fantails.

2 years agoThis is a wetland in the making. Nature is needed, and so farm land is being reverted. And it's impressive already, in Feb 2023. Check out the Kahikatea swamp forest. Be ready to get your feet wet. Get there by cycle from Papamoa East, and take in the Kaituna river mouth, a little further on, while you are at it.

2 years agoLovely walk, badly sign posted. After an hour I was wondering where we were. Ended up being nearly a 2 hour walk, somehow we missed a sign, which I think wasn't there at all, telling us to take a turn. Glad it was a nice sunny day.

3 years agoAmazing spot. Track is not well formed and was extremely wet/swampy in parts, would recommend gumboots or other waterproof footwear
