Important Visitor Information

  • Location: Raparapahoe Falls is located on No 4 Road, roughly a 30-minute drive from Tauranga and a short drive from Te Puke. The entire road to the car park is sealed.
  • Getting There from Tauranga: From Tauranga, head south-east on State Highway 2. In Papamoa, take the right exit onto the Te Puke Highway. When you reach Te Puke, turn right onto No 3 Road and follow it for approximately 3.4 km. Then, turn right onto No 4 Road. The car park is well signposted on your left, about 3.1 km from the start of No 4 Road.
  • The Track: The track begins at the car park and leads to the river via a very steep descent with many steps. The track can be slippery, especially after rain, so take extra care and supervise children closely. Once you reach the river, keep to the right (the track goes in both directions, but the main waterfall is to the right). Walk for another 5-10 minutes until you reach the base of the main waterfall and its huge waterhole.
  • Return Journey: You will return via the same route. While the total walking time is about 1 hour, the return trip can feel much longer due to the steep uphill section.
  • Cost & Facilities: There is no admission fee to access the falls or the walking track. There are no facilities such as toilets or picnic tables at the car park or along the track, so please be prepared and carry out all your rubbish.
