5 months agoStayed 2 nights in the non powered site area, toilets were always clean and sanitary. The staff were friendly and welcoming from the moment you arrived. We paid extra for private hot swims and it was so worth it! The site is quite large so it’s definitely worth having a free car to drive to the pools especially if you are wanting a swim after 6pm in winter hours as it gets dark quickly. Showers are operated with a $2 coin and the pools are included in your admission costs. They are dog friendly, on a leash. Plus there is also a river that runs through the back of the campsite which is great for swimming. Great place to bring the family.

2 months agoThis place has gone ‘down the drain’ with the new owners. Cold, and very dirty. And if you give this feedback at the front desk, the answer will be that they don’t advertise as a hot spring, just a mineral spring *eye roll*. Yeah right, I live on the next road over and the water was always hot until their ownership. I mean… it’s on Hot Springs Road. Such a scam. In all honesty, the owners and entire vibe of the place was so miserable that I wonder why they don’t sell. But yes, don’t go here. The campsite reviews seem fine, and I can’t speak to those, but the attitude of the owners would deter me from ever trying them. Go up to Athenree Hot Springs instead. It’s smaller, but hot all year around, and there’s a grass area and playground opposite it for the kids.

2 months agoAntony and Lisa were great hosts, we did a hike to the Te Rereatukahia Hut, Antony dropped us up at the start of the track and picked us up again afterwards. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, warm. The kitchen facilities the same. All staff super friendly. Didn't want to leave. Only bummer was mid winter the mineral pools aren't that hot, but that is out of their control as it's a natural spring.

6 months agoHosts are so welcoming and friendly. Little shop at reception is great for last minute items. Communal areas always clean and tidy. Pools were fantastic. Motel room had everything we needed. Bed was very comfortable. Very peaceful and quiet. Loved listening to the wildlife at night and birds in the morning. Even had some curious visitors.

5 months agoSo friendly! I stuffed up our booking but SSHP went out of their way to help us. We were staying here after walking to the Te Rereatukahia Hut. We parked our car (with bikes on the back) safely onsite & Anthony dropped us up to the start of the trail! We also rang and they picked us up. Wonderful service!! Kids loved the hot pools and being able to wander around the bush setting. Cabin was clean and comfy. Thank you team SSHP
