3 months agoI really appreciated this shop for offering educational insights about pounamu. The staff were all amazing and super helpful. It was special to learn about the unique stories behind each artist—their creative process, personal journeys, and deep connection to pounamu. I’m grateful for the openness in sharing such a sacred and meaningful stone with travelers like myself, and for the opportunity to learn more about Māori culture through it. I spent time researching and visiting several shops across Auckland, Rotorua, and Wellington, and this one stood out not only for the quality of craftsmanship but also for its fair and reasonable pricing. One thing I especially valued was how transparent they were about the types of jade being sold—clearly labeling pieces that were not pounamu. Unfortunately, that clarity isn’t always common in other places, so I really appreciated the honesty and care here. I purchased a beautiful piece for my partner, and he chose one for me as well. We treasure them deeply, and it’s so meaningful to carry a little piece of Aotearoa with us—a lasting memory of this incredible land and its people.

a year agoSuch a great experience. We visited the Mountain Jade store in Rotorua. They have a lot of selections. Bought these pounamu chorded necklace (Toki & Koru). So impressed with the quality & craftsmanship, Thank you also for the friendly and accomodating staff who assisted. We finally have a pounamu hand carved in NZ. Yay!

5 years agoVery laid out store with THOUSANDS of options it seems. It's like a fancy jewelery store except all jade! Prices can range from low as $18 to thousand depending on what it is, like the kauri gum resin pendants they have too. The staff are helpful too, and informed us of the free tours at the other store 3 blocks away. I have no idea why this store exists though when the other is so close?

9 months agoWent in today to look for a taonga for my baby cousin. Claudia was so incredibly helpful and lovely, made shopping a breeze. She also gift wrapped her present which was so neat, we really appreciated her time and her thoughtfulness :)
