A Resounding Success: Welcome Bay’s Safety & Security Expo!
The Welcome Bay Community Centre was buzzing with energy from 1 pm to 4 pm, packed with smiling faces of all ages, from curious children (tamariki) to engaged adults. The Safety & Security Expo, masterfully organized by Rebecca Larsen and the Western Bay of Plenty Neighbourhood Support team, was a resounding success, far exceeding expectations.
The hall showcased a diverse range of community organizations and impressive business expo-style setups. Attendees delved into a wealth of information, from practical home security tips and alarm systems to crucial scam awareness. It was invaluable to connect with our local siren services – police, fire, and ambulance – who were on hand, sharing their expertise and engaging with the community. Many also discovered the vital support networks available right here in Welcome Bay.
A true highlight, especially for the younger attendees, was the “Learn and Earn” passport. Kids enthusiastically visited the different service stalls, getting their passports stamped as they absorbed valuable safety knowledge. Their reward for all that learning? A delicious FREE ice cream! This brilliant initiative made learning about safety fun and interactive, encouraging widespread participation.
